Betty Treacle Portrait of Betty Treacle , who resided at Goodshaw in late 18th/ early 19th century. According to
J.M. Mather in “Rambles around Rossendale” (1894), she was a half-witted character, whose main physical characteristics
were a hooked nose and domino teeth. She was usually found to be walking around the village wearing a mob cap and carrying
her house key.
