John has represented British Art as the featured selected artist of Arts Council of England’s
The British Art Show. A detail of his Art Wars: Division and Design painting was used on the catalogue and publicity.
John was the lead singer, lyricist and co-songwriter in the legendary band, The Three
Johns, and continues to write, perform, record, produce and collaborate. New music and links
to Myspace sites can be found on the Music page.
John uses both old and new technologies. He was on the Board of the, then, Montreal-based
ISEA and co-directed ISEA98 in Manchester and Liverpool (International Symposium on Electronic Art), still the UK's
biggest new technology art event. John designed the ISEA98 publication.
A much-loved UK artwork by Hyatt is the large-scale public sculpture, Manchester’s Tilted Windmills
in Exchange Square in his home city centre.
He has been working for two years in collaboration with Huang Zhuan of Shenzhen, China, on a research project in
the visualisation of political history, including the co-curation of a large exhibition of Chinese contemporary art, State
Legacy (Manchester and Shenzhen, 2009), with associated conferences and events.
